ULURU DREAMING WITH FRIENDS

Painting the many and varied images, mostly in colourful Dot art of our most and famous iconic natural wonders, ULURU is my most popular painting globally, including Australia to date with over 300 hundred hanging in homes, business and indeed government places. Of course, overseas art lovers and indeed art collectors especially remain fascinated with our unique Dot art style of this iconic and Aboriginal revered ‘Rock’.

ULURU DREAMING WITH FRIENDS

This painting on the map of Australia with its sandy desert plains captures the images of Australia iconic fauna surrounding our most revered ancient rock, Uluru. The blue painting depicts Lake Eyre is a remnant of Australia’s inland sea some 60 million years ago. It was formed by the sinking of an old oceanic plate in the mantle beneath the basin. The suction effect of this sinking likely caused both the Lake Eyre Basin as well as the Murray-Darling basin to form. The basin is still gradually sinking, and still gradually accumulating sediment.

MIMI PEOPLE DREAMING

My inspiration for this painting came from the many rock art paintings I photographed when I travelled to the Kimberley in Northern Australia. The legend of the Mimi people is tied securely to the Lore of the Wandjina and tales of the Mimi can be found largely in our northern regions of Australia. The Wandjina is a Creator being who is endemic in Northern lands and such places in Australia. Modern contemporary artists paint these beings that are historically linked to the Kimberley’s. The fauna is added throughout this painting which all are endemic to this region.

NT INTERVENTION OR INVASION: Modern Day Genocide in Disguise. (PANELS OF THREE)

This painting to so many Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory of Australia depicts the reliving of their ancestor’s nightmare of the "original" invasion by the British in 1788 and the brutality that followed.
The red depicts the bloodshed and the black is the scattered communities, again governed by the “white”, depicting their harsh white rule and policing.
The black dots scattered throughout the painting represents the frightened men, women and children, again in disarray and dysfunctional-with nowhere else to go.
In spite of former Prime Minister Mr Rudd saying “Sorry” to Australia’s Aboriginal population, nothing has really changed in the minds of most Australians and the NT Intervention juggernaut roles on.

TIGER SHARK DREAMING

This Dot Art painting of a Tiger Shark of the Dreamtime is dedicated to our late Mother, Jean. The circles represent the "Aura" that surrounds this magnificent fish and the circles with the lines represent jelly fish swimming in the water. My brother told me of several occasions when our mother had rowed out to the two-mile reef where she would catch the most amazing fish; but often as the summer months drew nearer, would be followed and indeed circled many times by a large Tiger Shark. Only on one occasion did Mother had to "ditch" her days fishing overboard to distract the Tiger Shark so she could safely catch a wave back to (our) Wallabi Beach, as it was for the first time getting too near her boat and showed signs of impatience. But Mother never feared the sea. Strangely, my brother said that after the death of our mother in 1949, he never saw the Tiger Shark return; as if it had some affinity with our mother!

SUNSET FOREST

As most of my art lovers have seen and know I love painting our wonderful range of trees, this is my very first silhouette style forest, using different colours (my own mixture) to depict the sunset. Another uniqueness about this particular painting, is that when different coloured lighting is applied, this painting changes colour accordingly, such as all red, orange or blue.

MANNING VALLEY DREAMING

This painting was inspired by the magnificence of the “Mighty” Manning River that runs from the upper reaches of the Great Divide splitting into two arms at Taree, my home town; before the North arm spills into the Tasman Sea at Harrington and the Southern arm at Old Bar. I have shown the islands in this river and the small coloured dots represent the community along its banks.

KANGAROOS DREAMING

In this painting I wanted to combine a number of rich colours with a variety of the BIG Red Kangaroo shapes to highlight the significance of one of our most famous unique animals, using Dot art in my traditional style whilst emulating the Dreaming theme.

SPIRITUAL ROAD DREAMING

I am very proud of this painting as my choice of the colours creates wonderful synergy, topped off with Dot art. Of course, after looking at, it many times, I was very satisfied I called it this name as it represents every Aboriginal Nation/tribe across Australia of the Dreamtime.
